Steve Kimmett, owner of Benchmark Builders, LLC, was born and raised near Annapolis , Maryland , where he grew up in and around the residential construction business. His love for construction and problem solving motivated him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1982.

Prior to founding Benchmark Builders, LLC, in 1997, Steve Kimmett gained valuable "hands-on" experience as a General Superintendent in both residential and commercial construction. In addition, Steve Kimmett spent eight (8) years as a professional consulting facilities engineer, responsible for the evaluation and remediation design of a wide variety of construction problems in residential, commercial and industrial facilities.

Steve's affiliation with a National Civil Engineering Firm brought him to Columbia , South Carolina from Houston , Texas in 1994, where he gained professional experience in solving construction problems created by the inattention to detail by others. Steve benefits from his previous experience every day as he manages the activities of Benchmark Builders, LLC.

Steve Kimmett and his family currently reside in beautiful rural Ridgeway , South Carolina , where Benchmark Builders, LLC built their dream home.
